GateWatch Desktop: How to Send a Key
How to Create a Visitor QR Key in GateWatch Desktop
Use the Create Visitor flow in GateWatch Desktop to quickly send a secure QR key to your guest. The key can be scanned by guards or compatible devices at the gate—no hardware changes needed.
Step 1: Navigate to “Create Visitor”
From the main dashboard, look at the top-right of the screen.
Click the Create Visitor button next to Create Incident.
Step 2: Select "Send a Key"
A Create Visitor window will appear with several options:
Send a Key
Send a Party Key
Add Frequent Visitor
Log Vendor
For a standard one-time guest, click Send a Key.

Step 3: Enter Visitor Details & Send the Key
You’ll now see the Send a Key form.
Fill in the required fields:
Visitor Name* – Enter your guest’s full name.
Resident Name – Select the resident the visitor is coming to see.
Visitor Phone Number – Used to send the QR key by text (if available).
Visitor Email – Used to send the QR key by email (if available).
Key Start Time – When the key should become active.
Key Expiration Time – When the key should stop working.
License Plate Number – Optional, but helpful for gate staff to verify the visitor.
Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
Review the details to make sure everything is correct.
Click Send Key.

What Happens Next?
The visitor receives a QR key via SMS and/or email, depending on the contact info you entered.
When they arrive at the community, they simply show or scan the QR code at the gate.
